Most of these floors can be used outdoors if placed on a hard surface, but if setting up on grass, be sure to select an outdoor dance floor. Luxury dance floors with high gloss acrylic must remain indoors. Choose the perfect dance floor to match your venue and event style!

Outdoor Dance Floors

Our outdoor dance floor rentals provide a stable and stylish surface for open-air events. The dance floor area must be on a level surface for proper setup. All outdoor dance floors include a subfloor in the pricing for stability on grass, while our Classic Timber Dance Floor has a built-in subfloor.

What Is a Dance Floor Subfloor?

A dance floor subfloor is a supportive base layer placed underneath a dance floor to provide stability, leveling, and protection, especially when setting up on uneven or soft surfaces like grass. It ensures a secure and smooth dancing surface, preventing movement or sinking. Subfloors are commonly used for outdoor dance floors and can be built-in or added separately, depending on the dance floor type.

Selecting the Right Dance Floor Size

Choosing the right dance floor depends on how your guests will use the space. Here are general guidelines:

4.5 sq ft per dancer (industry minimum)

6 sq ft per dancer (ideal for weddings & parties)

8 sq ft per person for line dancing

16 sq ft per dancer for ballroom dancing

Typically, about 1/3 of guests will be dancing at once. For lively crowds, plan for up to half. When in doubt, size up so guests have plenty of room.
